NEON a new official trailer debuted Fjordthe acclaimed Palme d'Or-winning drama at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, which marks the Romanian director's English-language debut, Cristian Mungiu.
After conquering audiences at Cannes last May, the project is preparing for its theatrical release, scheduled for October, with the latest trailer offering a chilling look into the private life of a devout Romanian family who moves to Norway, only to see the foundations of their home crumble when local authorities accuse the parents of child abuse.
Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) y Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice) play the parents of the Romanian immigrant family in Norway, where they are the subject of an investigation that leads them to face the scrutiny of the local judicial system.
Filmed in Ålesund and the stunning, remote expanses of the Hjørundfjord in western Norway, the trailer conveys a naturalistic and chilling atmosphere that perfectly complements the cold and deeply disturbing performance of Stan, who we see transform from a strict and deeply religious patriarch into someone completely unrecognizable in one terrifying shot.
With NEON in charge of distribution in the United States, Fjord is emerging as a strong contender for the next awards season in multiple categories.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“In Fjorda Norwegian woman and her devoted Romanian husband move with their five children to a remote, close-knit coastal town. His teenage children quickly form a close relationship with a neighboring family, while unease grows over their rigid beliefs. “When allegations of abuse arise, they are forced to confront a system of judgment that blurs the line between concern and prejudice.”
