The Conjuring universe has given the green light to a new installment of the horror saga, The Conjuring 4for which New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have already signed the screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, according to THR reports.
The screenwriter has experience in the world of the Warrens having written the scripts for The Conjuring 2y The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do Itthe third installment of The spellwhich with the launch of the latter, crossed $2,000 million dollars in the global box office.
James Wan and Peter Safran return as producerswork that they have carried out in each of the now nine installments that make up this horror franchise (in addition, Wan directed the first two films of The spell).
The return of the protagonists is also expected, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, playing demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, although there is no official agreement yet. Wilson and Farmiga have given life to the Warrens in the three tapes of the Incantationand in the spinoff Annabelle Comes Home.
The details about the plot and the case investigated by the Warrens that will be addressed this time, are kept secret at the moment.
Other Johnson-McGoldrick collaborations with Warner Bros. include the scripts for Orphan (2009), Red Riding Hoody Wrath of the Titans. Most recently, she scripted Aquamandirected by Wan.
The Conjuring 4 will mark the ninth installment of the Conjuring universe. the eighth movie, The Nun 2is currently filming in France.
