The most irreverent film franchise, Scary Moviehas just surpassed a milestone at the box office, twenty-six years after the release of the first film.
This week, the franchise of Paramount Pictures exceeded $1 billion at the global box officefollowing the collection of the most recent installment, the reboot Scary Moviewhich reached $100.5 million in the United States, and $108 million in the international market, for a daily global total of $208.5 million, in its third week in theaters.
The budget for the sixth film was $30 million, plus marketing costs.

Scary Movie (2026) is the first R-rated comedy film to surpass $100 million at the domestic box office since Girls Trip (2017).
It is the first installment of the franchise in thirteen years.
Scary Movie includes the return of many familiar faces from the saga, such as the case of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall, Anna Faris, Lochlyn Monroe, Dave Sheridan, Jon Abrahams, Cheri Oteri y Chris Elliott.
Newcomers to the saga include Kenan Thompson, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowbery Benny Zielke.
The saga, created and developed by the brothers Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans y Bring on Ivory Wayansdoes satire of popular horror films. The original film was released in 2000, a few years after the slashers were released. Scream y I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The sequel marks the first reunion of the Wayans brothers on a franchise project in 18 years.
Keenen Ivory was the director of the first two installments, while Marlon and Shawn were screenwriters and stars of the first two installments. The Wayans Brothers did not participate in the next three installments.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) is the director of the most recent installment, with a script written by the Wayans brothers y Rick Alvarez.

Some of the films that are parodied by Scary Movie this year they are: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Terrifier, M3GAN, Longlegs, Midsummerthe series Wednesday y Squid Game, The Substance, Weapons, Get Out, Ma, Smile, Nope, Backrooms, I Know What You Did Last Summerand of course, his main inspiration since the beginning of the franchise: Scream.
The sequel is being made as part of the first partnership between Paramount Pictures and Miramax, the studio behind the film franchise.
Miramax fully financed the production, and Paramount is handling distribution. Miramax produces with Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Lowey and Thom Zadra serving as executive producers.
