Often called 'Debie Harry's first punk band' – thanks to the success of the Blondie And the presence of Debbie – Stlettos is actually the group of Elda Stilletto, one of the central figures in the birth of the Newly Punk.

Born in 1947 as Elda Gentile, she lived in loco the cultural effervescence of New York from the late 1960s onwards, making rolleys with Andy Warhol, New York Dolls, Magic Tramps (whose vocalist Eric Emerson is the father of her son Branch), Ramones and cia. And seeing the stuff all explod in places like CBGB and Max's Kansas City. In fact, it was at Max's that she met a waitress named Deborah Ann Harry, soon recruited for the new band Elda had set up after the end of the Holly Woodlawn's Pure Garbage, named Stillettos.

In addition to Debbie the group told Rosie Ross on vocals, Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys/Rocket From guitarist from the Tomb), Walter Lure and Billy Rath (both from Heartbreakers), Tish and Snooky (Sick Fucks), Fast Eddie (Elda's brother) and Buddy Bowser (from New York Dolls); But 'not officially' went through their ranks Chris Stein (then Debbie's boyfriend, with whom he would form Blondie), Sylvain Sylvain (Dolls), Johnny Thunders, Robert Fripp (yes, that one Fripp) ele Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), among many other friends and/or enthusiasts in the Hurricane Elda.

Even though it is key pieces of the punk scene of the great apple, the Stillettos never recorded an album, until in 2005 its founder brought together the band's records in compilation Punk trampolinewhich in 14 songs gives an idea of what this combo was. And if after listening to the album you don't put “anti disk” as one of your favorite tracks, consider yourself persona non grata here hahahaha.

Discover or rediscover. But anyway listen to the stalk!
