Last January 2023, the Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group studios launched the long-awaited Scream VIwhich did well at the box office, racking up nearly $170 million at the global box office, as well as notable critical reception.
The sixth installment of the saga Scream followed the new group of survivors introduced to the audience in Scream (2022), with legacy member Courteney Cox in a supporting role. Notably absent was the “scream queen” Neve Campbellwho didn’t reprise his iconic role as Sidney Prescott for the first time in the slasher franchise’s history; his absence was due to a salary dispute with the studios.
Since his absence was confirmed as a fact, fans began to speculate about his return to a future installment of the saga, and although the studies have not given the official green light to a next installment, and we believe that it is only a matter of time taking Considering the positive response to the sixth film, news is already beginning to circulate around the possible return of Campbell to Scream VII / Scream 7.
During the week the FAN EXPO Denverwhich annually stands out as the quintessential pop culture event for all things sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming, based at the Denver, Colorado Convention Center, bringing fans up close with its favorite artist.
Campbell was one of the guests at the 2023 edition, along with other members of the original film Scream (1996) as Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard, and Jamie Kennedy. One of the fans present at the event reported that the actress was indirect when she was asked about her return to Scream 7. He did not accept or deny his participation, he limited himself to saying (via Beyond the Mask):
“I don’t know if I can talk about it.”
We emphasize that it was at this same event during the 2022 edition, where Campbell commented publicly for the first time that he would not be back for Scream 6at the insistence of the fans present who spoke to her about the desire to see her in the film released in 2023. Therefore, her most recent comment about Scream 7 it should not be taken lightly. It’s at least an indication that talks are underway about involving her in the next story.
Campbell also addressed fans to thank them for their support:
“We do not exist without you. There is no art unless it is witnessed. It’s hard to understand. I am an artist because I want to communicate. The world gets closer as we share our stories. I love you guys.”
