The cast of The Housemaid’s Secretthriller sequel The Housemaid of Paul Feigconfirmed a new member.
Paul Anthony Kellyactor who gained popularity with his leading role in the series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessettejoined the cast of the sequel launched by Lionsgate in January of this year, after the commercial success in theaters achieved by the first installment in December 2025, according to reports from Deadline.
Kelly joins the comebacks of Sydney Sweeney y Michele Morronereprising their roles as Milie and Enzo, respectively, since Kirsten Dunst (Civil War, Roofman) as another of the new additions for the sequel.
Dunst will play Mrs. Wendy Garrick, and Kelly will play Dunst's husband and Millie's (Sweeney) employer. The medium describes his character like this:
“Douglas Garrick, the billionaire husband of Dunst's character Wendy, and the new employer of our protagonist, maid Millie.”
The Housemaid’s Secret will mark Kelly's film debut.
In The Housemaid’s SecretMillie (Sweeney) returns to work as a housekeeper for a woman she is never allowed to see, only to discover the truth behind the closed door that threatens to reveal secrets much darker than her own.
Production is expected to begin this year.
The sequel will be directed again by Feig, with screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine returning to adapt the second book of Freida McFadden's successful trilogy, published in 2023.
Todd Lieberman will produce with Hidden Pictures; Feig with Pretty Dangerous Pictures with his partner Laura Fischer; and Sweeney with Fifty-Fifty Films. Cary Elter and Alex Young will executive produce.
Sweeney executive produced the first installment, along with her co-star, Amanda Seyfried.
The first installment, which had an extraordinary global box office of $395.7 million, revolves around Millie (Sweeney) who begins working as a housekeeper for the wealthy Winchester family, in an attempt to recover after spending ten years in prison. As he becomes familiar with the Winchesters, he soon discovers what lies behind the facade of the seemingly perfect family.
The novels of The Housemaid They have sold more than 12 million copies; The Housemaid’s Secret It has sold four million. Translated into 40 languages, the book has been a New York Times bestseller for 75 weeks and counting. It also broke the record of 500 million pages read on Kindle and is the second most read title on Kindle's 10th anniversary, only behind the series Harry Potter. McFadden published the third book in the series, The Housemaid Is Watchingin 2024.
Lionsgate has officially acquired the rights to all three books in the McFadden saga, as well as an additional short story released in 2024, so this likely won't be the last we see of Millie and her sadistic employers.
The studio set the theatrical release of The Housemaid’s Secret for him December 17, 2027.
