When the sensational Faith Healers faded away in 1994, guitarist/vocalist Tom Cullinan barely let his body cool down and formed a new band with bassist Sean Newsham, the equally sensational and unstable Quickspace Supersport.
After launching a single, an EPtour alongside Sebadoh and Stereolab and less than a year after his birth, the group took a six-month vacation. Upon their return, 3/5 of the band had been changed, the name was reduced to Quickspace and in June 97 they delivered their debut,
Quickspace, the album, came out in two versions (the American one with two more tracks than the English one) and, in short, follows the trail left by Faith Healers; a little less stormy and more spacey/psychedelic, true, but still something like an amphetamined Stereolab.
Afterwards, the quintet would release two more great albums, in 1998 and 2000, take a 5-year hiatus to resurface with a single (in 2005) and then disappear definitively. Or not, as Caetano would say.
