Óscar Nuñez will repeat his role as Óscar Martínez in the new 'The Office' series

In May 2024 the development of a new series was formalized set in the same universe what The Officecon Greg Daniels –Cocreator of the popular sitcom– and Michael how in charge of it.

The new series, whose title could be The Paperwill focus on the documentary teams of the original series while they find a new topic: a historical newspaper in difficulties in the west.

The story will follow the editorial efforts to revive it with the help of voluntary journalists.

It is not a reboot, but a continuation within the same universe of The Office. With will develop in A new office with new characters, but will live in the same world that the series of false documentary starring Steve Carell.

At the moment, he is the only original character confirmed to return.

The main cast is made up of Domhnall Gleeson (The Patient, About Time), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Melvin Gregg (American Vandal), Chelsea Frei (Poker Face), Ramona Young (Santa Clarita Diet), Medicine Psycho, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, Eric Rahill. “In the new series, the documentary team that immortalized the branch of Dunder Mfflin in Scranton is looking for a new theme when they discover a dying historical newspaper of the west medium and the editor tries to relive it with volunteer reporters.”

Daniels will be executive producer with Michael Koman, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and the creators of The OfficeRicky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott in the US version, has confirmed that he will not return to the new series.

Universal Television is the producing company.

The Officeadapted for the American audience by Daniels based on his British homonym of Gervais and Merchant, revolves around the daily life of the employees of the Dunder Mfflin fictitious paper company based in Scranton. The series is a fiction with scripts, however, it is considered a mockumentary or false documentary, since the actors warn the presence of the cameras. It was issued by NBC for nine seasons as of 2005, concluding in 2013.
