The 'M3GAN' universe expands with the spinoff 'SOULM8TE'

Plus the sequel M3GAN 2.0 which will be released in theaters in June 2025, Atomic Monster of James Wan y Blumhouse Productions of Jason Blum are expanding the universe of M3GANlaunching an officially titled spinoff film, SOULM8TEaccording to Deadline reports.

The media also reveals that SOULM8TE It is billed as “a '90s-style erotic thriller with a 'new technological twist'” and will hit theaters on Friday, January 2, 2026..

“In SOULM8TE, a man acquires an android with artificial intelligence to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient couple, he inadvertently turns a harmless love robot into a deadly soulmate.

Kate Dolan (You Are Not MY Mother) will be the director of the feature film. Dolan rewrote the original draft script written by Rafael Jordan (Salvage Marines). The story was written by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Jordan.

James Wan and Jason Blum will produce the spinoff, with Atomic Monster's Michael Clear and Judson Scott serving as executive producers, and Ingrid Bisu.

Dolan expressed in a press release:

“At its core, I see this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we can't escape, and I hope to delve into those depths.”

Wan joined the statements:

“SOULM8TE is an exciting and alluring addition to the M3GAN universe. “We are excited to partner with Kate to bring this story to life with her unique vision and cinematic point of view.”

Universal Pictures premiered the original delivery, M3GAN, in theaters, in January 2023, where it became an immediate box office hit, accumulating $180 million in the global box office. The sequel M3GAN 2.0 was launched by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, a few weeks after the premiere of M3GAN. It will be released in theaters worldwide on June 27, 2025. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw return to star in the sequel, with Akela Cooper once again writing the script, and Wan producing.
