After being subjected to controversial psychological experiments by Professor Henry Murray (Crowe), Kaczynski's troubled past resurfaces decades later when the search to capture him—led by FBI agent Joanne Miller (Woodley)—brings to light the chilling consequences of ambition and isolation.
The film alternates between Kaczynski's struggle to fit in during his youth at Harvard and the future investigation of FBI agent Miller. Between these two timelines the portrait of Ted Kaczynski takes shape. “Ideas are like fire,” Crowe says in the trailer. “They spread from one person to another.”
