The Comsat Angels – Time Considered As A Helix Of Semi-Precious Stones (1992) – LITTLE LOST CLASSICS

Some sessions recorded live on the BBC are as good as the originals recorded in studios, under the tutelage of a producer, etc., but few are as badass as those on Comsat Angels.

Shefield's band was on the British network nine times between 1979 and 1984, on John Peel's programs (a fan and supporter of the guys since they sent him a copy of Red planettheir debut EP), Richard Skinner, Janice Long, Kid Jensen and Bruno Brookes. In 1992, the quartet's fellow label RPM Records compiled all of this on the album Time Considered As A Helix Of Semi-Precious Stonesand listening to him is confirming the + b statement in the first paragraph.

In each of the album's 19 tracks – 18 of which come from the group's early and essential work, plus a version of the Stones' “Citadel” – Stephen Fellows, Andy Peake, Kevin Bacon (not that actor hahaha) and Mik Glaisher show why , as well as the Soundshould be in the 'first platoon' of eighties post-punk alongside Echo and others equally well known.

But as we know, the world is not a fair place, so what’s up to us is to spread the word so that treasures like this don’t remain hidden.
