20th Century Studios officially kicked off the marketing campaign of The Boogeyman from the director Rob Savage (Host, Dashcam) with the release of the first full-length trailer for the film adaptation of the horror short story of Stephen King.
The trailer’s debut was made during the NFC Championship Game (which the Philadelphia Eagles won 31-7 over the San Francisco 49ers), and was immediately posted on the studio’s websites and social media.

Meanwhile we remind you that in recent days it was announced that The Boogeyman will leave behind the premiere on the streamer Hulu, to opt for the traditional release in movie theaters. The decision was made after test screenings in December 2022, which led executives and producers to reconsider the release strategy. King also had a chance to see the film, to which he gave his stamp of approval.
The Savage’s horror thriller to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.
“The Boogeyman was first published in 1978 as part of the collection of The Night Shift short stories that King wrote over the years for magazines. It was compiled into a best-selling anthology and published a year after The Shining became a bestseller for the author. This will be the tenth short story in the collection of 20 stories to be made into a feature film or TV movie. Others include Children of the Corn, Maximum Overdrive, The Mangler, and Sometimes They Come Back.
The original short film was really terrifying and was about a man visiting a psychiatrist where he recounted how his children were killed by a sadistic presence, the main character.”

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“Still reeling from and reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a 16-year-old girl and her younger sister, both still reeling from the death of their mother, find themselves haunted by a sadistic presence in their home after their father, a psychologist, has an encounter with a desperate patient at his home.”
Savage directs from a script written by Mark Heyman (Black Swan), Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place), y Akela Cooper (Malignant). Cooper wrote the original drafts.
Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen produce with their company 21 Laps. Beck & Woods are the executive producers.
It was previously revealed that the film will run for 120 minutes. Filming took place in New Orleans during the winter of 2022.
The Motion Picture Association (MPA) awarded him the Rated PG-13 by:
“Terror, violent content, drug use among adolescents and strong language”.
Other 21 Laps productions include Netflix originals, There’s Someone Inside Your House, y Stranger Things.
